Kathy Delaney
Kathy has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art education from the University of Arizona and loves teaching quilt making techniques. She has been absorbing everything she can that is quilt related since she began in 1991.

Kathy regularly develops new workshops and classes. Kathy has also taken the 2-day seminar offered by NQA on being a quilt show judge and has had experience judging quilt shows in Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas.

Kathy belongs to the Blue Valley Quilters Guild (Vice-President 1994 and 1995, President 1996 and 1997), Olathe Quilter's Guild (Treasurer 1999 and 2000, President 2001 and 2002), American Quilters Society (quilt juried into 1998, 2001, 2002, and 2003 shows), National Quilters Association (Honorable Mention at 1998 show), International Quilters Association, The Applique Society, The Heartland Quilt Network (Secretary 1999 and 2000) and the Kansas Quilters Organization. She has worked and taught at Prairie Point Quilts in Shawnee, KS since it's opening in June of 1995.

Kathy was invited in 1998 to participate in the 1999 Pilgrim and Roy Challenge to benefit the Museum of the American Quilters Society in Paducah, Kentucky.

Kathy's "Emperial Garden" quilt won an Honorable Mention ribbon at the National Quilters Association quilt show in 1998. Her "Prairie Album" quilt won 1st Place at Quilter's Heritage Celebration in Lancaster, PA and 3rd Place at the Machine Quilters Showcase in 2001. Kathy's "Stars and Vines 2002" quilt won Honorable Mention at the American Quilter's Society show in Paducah, KY, 2003. Kathy is represented on the cover as well as the interior of both Traditional Quiltworks Magazine, issue #73, and Quilting Today, issue #89 and #95, and is published in Quilters Newsletter Magazine, October issue, 2004. Kathy has a quilt featured on the cover and inside Barbara Brackman's book, Prairie Flowers, Kansas City Star Books, 2001, in the 2003 AQS date book and in Barbara's Women of Design, Kansas City Star Books, 2004 . Kathy's own book, Hearts and Flowers-Applique from Start to Finish, an in-depth look at how to do needleturn applique, was published by Kansas City Star Books in April 2002. Her second book, A Heartland Album - More Techniques in Hand Applique, was published by Kansas City Star Books in March 2003. The Basics - An Easy Guide to Beginning Quiltmaking was published in June 2004 and Horn of Plenty for a New Century in October, 2004, both from Kansas City Star Books. Her fifth book is Patterns of History - The Challenge Winners, published in October 2005. Her 6th book is Beyond the Basics - A Potpourri of Quiltmaking Techniques, published in October of 2007. Kathy's 7th book is Pots de Fleurs - A Garden of Applique Techniques, published in February of 2009. Kathy was a featured teacher at the American Quilters Society Quilt Show in April 2003 and at the AQS show in Nashville 2006. Kathy designs patterns for piecing and applique under the name of Fabric Crayon Designs.

Kathy considers her experience filming an episode of Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson (episode #916) to be one of the most fun experiences she has had since beginning her teaching career in 1996.

Kathy also taught for the AQS show in Knoxville in 2009 and the Nancy's Notions Sewing Weekend in 2010 in Bever Dam, WI.
